"The sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in
its net of wonder forever."—Jacques Cousteau

Sept. 3 - Freeport, ME

“Life is just a journey” – Princess Diana

This trip is about the journey...not the destination. Today we took the roads less traveled, back roads that took us through A LOT of small, beautiful towns. We traveled through new places we haven't seen in New York, then across Vermont, New Hampshire and up the Maine coast to Freeport.

The little town of Hoosick, NY looked very interesting...somewhere we need to stop and visit one day. The most interesting place was the Big Moose Deli.
We stopped near Wilmington, VT for a picnic lunch...this was our view with lunch.
Tucked into the southern end of the Green Mountains of Vermont, is the small village of Wilmington. The town sits on a glimmering creek and is full of quirky restaurants and shops. We wandered through a few stores and the shopkeepers were very friendly.

We're back in Maine...this is the sign at the New Hampshire Maine border. I really like it!
We stopped in Freeport so we could visit the LL Bean flagship store again. We enjoyed visiting this area in 2016. We had dinner at Tuscan Brick Oven Bistro and then went shopping.
Our route today...not the fastest route, but it was full of pretty places.

  1. I love the welcome sign entering Maine, but I think it should be changed to read "The way life should be, at least in July and August."

    1. That is true...I might stretch it to September and October, but not after that!
