July 22 - Windy Day in the Vineyard
Windy Lake Tashmoo
So what would you do all day if the weather was too windy to go ashore...read, watch TV, nap, cook? I like spending my time playing with my photos in Photoshop. What do you think of this one?

Jan. 8 - Dreaming
With the cold dreary weather we’ve had the past few weeks we’ve
been dreaming of returning to the boat and finding warmer and sunnier shores to
explore. Maybe next winter we’ll need to move south and enjoy Florida and the
Bahamas. I long for a day on the beach with my toes in the sand!

Jewell Island - Anchorage
Well, today was our first complete rain out since we've been in Maine. We've had a little fog and even a little rain, but neither lasted all day and we were able to do something...not today. We sat on the boat watching it rain all day! I gave some thought about going ashore and walking the beach in the rain, but it was coming down too hard most of the day to even give that idea serious thought. Instead I watched reruns of rerun movies we have on DVD, played sudoku and messed with my photos.
We've seen 73 lighthouses this season and I finally have them added to my lighthouse album online. I guess rainy days are good for some things. You can check them out here.
The Light
by Hattie Vose Hall
I am the light,
holding
Nightly my torch on
high;
Under me surge the
waters,
Over me bends the
sky.
Year after year I
stand here
Holding my steady
light,
Sending its ray of
comfort
Into the darkest
night.
Many a man has served
me,
Tending the Light
with care,
Many a vanished
footstep
Passed by my winding
stair.
Years pass and men
pass with them,
Never my light grows
dim,
One hands the torch
to another,
Others will follow
him.
So are the centuries
moving,
Still serving men am
I,
Constant through
gales of winter
Calm beneath summers
sky.
Lights are the hope
of seamen,
Warning of rock and
shoal,
We are the
danger-stations,
We are the
sea-patrol!

Least Sandpiper
Cold winter days give me plenty of time to play with my Photoshop program...so much to learn and so fun. I just wish I could remember it all! It's amazing how quickly you can turn an ordinary photo into something very special.
I took pictures of this little Sandpiper in Southport, NC last fall. The Least Sandpiper is the smallest shorebird in the world. It occur in flocks of dozens or hundreds and forages at the upper edge of mudflats or along drier margins of inland ponds.
Oct. 28 – Miss Liberty
Happy 126th Anniversary Miss Liberty! Definitely
one of the highlights of our trip this summer was the sight of the Statue of
Liberty standing tall in the harbor and being able to anchor just behind her in
Liberty Park. Not too many people get to sit on the deck of their boat and have
such an amazing view…it’s a memory we will enjoy for years to come. Miss
Liberty was closed to the public last October so renovations could be made to
the interior. Today the crown reopens for the public to enjoy…if you can get a
ticket!
