Beaurivage- Anchorage
“The travel impulse is mental and physical curiosity. It’s a passion. And I can’t understand people who don’t want to travel.” – Paul Theroux
Another beautiful day. We got to sleep in a little and then walked into town for breakfast at Chissy Bean. Then we filled the water tanks, rinsed all the gunk off the boat that we acquired while going through the locks and filled out the online information on the new ROAM app that makes checking back into the US easier.
By 10:00 we were on our way to the St Lawrence River and the 1000 Islands. We checked in with Canadian customs at the ferry dock on Wolfe Island. The process was quick and painless...it took longer to dock than it did to check in.
This is the ferry heading over to Clayton, NY...can you see the SUV and trailer...he was hanging over both sides.
From Wolfe Island we headed over to the Admiralty Islands near Gananoque. It was a beautiful August day and hundreds of boats were zipping around. It’s a gorgeous area...rocky shorelines and clear pretty water. It reminded us of Maine...except in Maine you can find quiet little anchorages where you can be all alone. Our anchorage tonight is by Parks Canada’s Beaurivage Island and we have over a dozen neighbors.
Many of the islands in the 1000 Islands are managed by Parks Canada. They maintain campsites, docks, trails, shelters, restrooms and even tent cabins on some of their islands. These islands are very popular and can be very crowded on a beautiful day.
Heading into our anchorage
The views from our deckSunset in our anchorage...hard to beat.
