"The sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in
its net of wonder forever."—Jacques Cousteau

Sept. 29 - Solomons, MD

Mill Creek - Anchorage

Today was day one of our trip home...the last leg of our cruising season. This is the only leg of our adventure where the destination is more important than the journey. There's a little girl in Texas that probably doesn't remember us and we need to go home and work on that. Every mile south we travel the pull on our heart strings gets stronger. It's time to reconnect with family...especially our precious little granddaughter.

We've had a great time in Baltimore and it's always hard to say good-bye to friends. It's been a good summer, but there is a chill in the air and it's time to move on. We had a beautiful day on the water, going past familiar sites like the Bay Bridge, Thomas Point Shoal Lighthouse, sailboats in the distance close to Annapolis and the pretty cliffs of Calvert Cliff State Park. We are anchored in the same anchorage near Solomons we've used four other times, it's a quiet little spot that we obviously like. The Chesapeake is getting to be a very familiar spot to us. This will be our sixth trip through the same area of the east coast. You begin to recognize every landmark, lighthouse and bend in the ICW after awhile.

Leaving Baltimore
The Pearl leaving Baltimore...thanks Sally!
One last look at the marina
This ain't a goodbye...It's a "till we see you again", Baltimore!
The trees are beginning to change color...fall is in the air.
A great song for the end of our cruising season.
