June 7 - Atlantic City, NJ

Atlantic Ocean
Historic Gardner's Basin

Today was the beginning of our Atlantic Ocean adventure. There aren't a lot of options on places to stop along the way to New York; we decided our first stop would be Atlantic City 44 miles away. That leaves us about 90 tomorrow, which will be a long day. Our friends can travel a little faster than us, so they choose to stop at Barnegat, another 30 miles up the coast. Our day started out beautiful...a perfect day to be on the water, but thunderstorms developed about the time we docked in Atlantic City. We were glad to be off the water as the winds picked up. The marina we are at isn't fancy, but it's in a cute park area with an aquarium, several restaurants, and a few little gift shops. We walked to the boardwalk to check things out...not too impressed. The whole area seemed almost abandoned, very few cars or people until we got to Trump's Taj Mahal Casino. There were more people but it was still quite empty. We're not big gamblers, so we decided to take the Jitney (bus) back to the boat and relax. We sat on the flybridge and watched the world go by. Watching the water, the sky and the boats go by was more entertaining to us.

  1. This is such a awesome post Susie! This makes me want to go to AC right now, my favorite part besides the ocean are the Atlantic City Restaurants. I absolutely love the variety and quality of food they have down there, thank you for sharing this with us!
