May 2 - Splash Day

Beacon Bay Marina
The Pearl got a much needed makeover this spring. The last time she had new bottom paint or a good wax job on the hull was in November 2015 when we were in Indiantown, Florida. She was really in need of a face lift...and boy does she look great now.

One good thing about keeping her in upstate New York is she'll be kept on the hard during the winter. That means each spring she'll get the care and love she deserves. We spent a week on the hard getting the work done and trying to stay warm...it even snowed one day, but splash day was warm and sunny and spring has arrived. The boat and crew are ready for a wonderful summer of fun.

Before and after pictures of the bottom and hull.
This is the first time the dinghy has gotten a coat of paint since Stan made the dinghy in 2010...she looked even worse than this before picture. I didn't get a picture of it before Stan cleaned and sanded the bottom.

  1. Hi there! We must have just missed you guys! We were up there on Wed., May 2, to take some measurements. The Pearl was gone but we did watch them put in the Teal. We had stopped at Allan Treman to see who was in the water. I think that the only boat on our dock was Sea Wolf (in a different spot than last year, actually they are in the slip we had for the first couple of years at Allan Treman). We are headed up to Beacon Bay tomorrow to put on new zincs, do some bottom painting, dewinterize the engine and anything else that needs to be done before we go in the water. We had hoped to put on a swim platform in the back but that will have to wait until the boat is out of the water in the fall because it will be 4-6 weeks before it is ready. If all goes well we hope to be ready for the water on Friday or next Monday. See you soon! Pam and Mark
