Brunswick Landing Marina
“Roads were made for journeys not destinations” ―Confucius
I’ve been away from daily blogging for a while so it’s going to take a little time to get back in the habit. Today we finally left Florida…after 746 days! Of course we haven’t been in Florida the whole time, but The Pearl has, except for the five weeks we spent in Abaco last spring. It is definitely time to move north.
We left very early this morning because our mooring ball kept hitting the side of the boat. The wind and the current were fighting each other and we seemed to be in the middle. The noise started before six and by 6:30 we were ready to get rid of that ball. We enjoyed a beautiful sunrise as we crossed the St. Marys River and left Florida behind. Hello Georgia!
The ICW winds around the marshy coastline of Georgia, the land is low and there are few trees, so you can see boats criss crossing behind and in front of you for miles. It has a certain beauty all its own. Some people don’t like cruising through this area, but we think it has its charms. It’s a busy time of year with lots of boats moving north right now. We stopped in Brunswick for the night. The marina is nice; they have free laundry, free beer and great amenities. We were one of 14 or 15 boats coming in at the same time…it was a zoo. The other reason we come to Brunswick is for fuel…they have the lowest prices in the area.
Check out our trip map if you'd like to see where we've been.
Good morning Georgia
Just one of the many twist and turns we made today
Jekyll Island...we enjoyed our visit here in 2011. You can read about that day here.

Brunswick, GA
We're back in Georgia where the tides are a little more extreme than we see in Texas
Since I started the blog with a sunrise I thought I would close with a sunset
