"The sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in
its net of wonder forever."—Jacques Cousteau

April 2 - Great Bridge, VA

Shakedown Cruise
Atlantic Yacht Basin

We ran a few errands this morning; we just can't seem to remember everything in one trip. Glad we have our car here...it's made errands a lot easier. The weather was beautiful today...still a little chilly and breezy but plenty of sunshine. After lunch Stan decided it was time to take The Pearl out and warm up the engine. It felt wonderful being back on the water and out of the shed. We just went down the river and then docked on AYB's outer wall. While the engine was hot Stan checked the torque on the cylinder head bolts and adjusted valve clearances. Stan really misses our youngest son Eric, when he's working on the engine. I wasn't the best help...but I did help.

It was wonderful being on the wall and out in the sunshine. The boat had a chance to warm up and we had a chance to sit on the flybridge. We enjoyed watching other boats come by and the Scull crews practicing.

We had Jim and Julie Bertch over for dinner...more wonderful cruising stories and history on our boat. Jim and Julie owned our boat for thirteen years and made a lot of great improvements on her. After dinner we moved back to our little home in the shed. Stan promises by the weekend we will be out of the dark for good!
