"The sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in
its net of wonder forever."—Jacques Cousteau

May 3 – New Bern, NC

Neuse River – Anchorage

“Some people walk in the rain, others just get wet.” - Roger Miller

There was no sunrise on the horizon this morning...only storm clouds. We enjoyed a second cup of coffee as we waited for the thunderstorms to pass. When the thunder and lightning stopped and the rain had let up slightly we released the lines. We don't mind traveling in the rain as long as it's not too windy. Things were really wet on the flybridge so Stan drove from below this morning.

Three years ago when we came past Morehead City we stopped for lunch at the Ruddy Duck. We thought it sounded like a great idea today too. There was no worry about others being on their dock in weather like this…we docked in the rain and had a nice lunch. It was a good diversion for the day and gave the tide a chance to turn in our favor. We enjoyed the benefits of the tide most of the day.

By early afternoon the storms were gone and the sky began to clear. When we got to the Neuse River instead of going east as we have so many times before we turned west...we're going to explore a new place tomorrow. We've heard good things about New Bern and thought we'd check it out. We really have no set destination this year…except to be where the summer is cooler than Texas.
