Fun with Family
Annapolis City Dock

The TriRock Triathlon took place in Annapolis this morning and we had front row seats. The event started and finished right in front of our boat. The first wave of competitors began with the swim portion at 7:00, so needless to say we were up very early. This is the second year they’ve held the event in Annapolis and they had 1400 athletes taking part. The event included a 500 meter swim, 12 mile bike ride and 3.1 mile run…the first competitor crossed the finish line in less than an hour. We felt a little sluggish and lazy…just sitting on the boat watching them! I was definitely glad I wasn’t swimming today…the water temperature was 61 degrees! Most competitors wore wetsuits, but there were a few just in shorts. I was cold just watching them!

We spent the rest of the day just relaxing and watching the action around the city dock. On one side of the boat we had people wandering around looking at all the boats that are docked in Ego Alley and the other side is a constant show of boats cruising up and down the water way. You also have people eating in restaurants on the far side of Ego Alley…so the show is endless. The kids spent a little time on their own seeing a few sites and wandering around. We went to Galway Bay Irish Pub for dinner. Kyle spent a summer studying in Galway, Ireland…so it seemed like a great place to go. It’s one of Annapolis’ top rated restaurants and we all had wonderful meals. We stopped by Kilwin’s Chocolate Shop for dessert on the way back to the boat. I love their fudge. We had a wonderful day with Kyle and Brytanie…the weather was perfect, the food was good and the company was great.
