"The sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in
its net of wonder forever."—Jacques Cousteau

Aug. 8 - Cobb Island, MD

Day 143 - Welcome to Maryland
Shymansky's Marina
Our luck has held out on rain...it comes in the evening and not during the day. We had a strong thunderstorm roll through last night, but it didn't last long. We could see other boats trying to come into the marina, but the current and waves were too much for them. They had to just wait it out...we've been there before and were glad we were tied to the dock safe and dry.

We had a pleasant day on the water, little boat traffic and a light wind to keep us comfortable. This is our first night in Maryland, although we have been in Maryland waters for almost two weeks. We are in a small community known as Cobb Island...very laid back and quiet. It feels nice after being in Washington DC for a week. We really didn't do much today, just traveled down the Potomac and wandered around town a little. We had some of the coldest beers I've ever had at the Shymansky's Restaurant and visited with a few locals this evening. From the looks of the crowded parking lot I guess we should have eaten dinner there too.
