"The sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in
its net of wonder forever."—Jacques Cousteau

Waterford Canal Welcome Center

"What if, instead of thinking we have to choose between our ordinary life and an extraordinary life, we began to realize they're the same thing?" ―Emily P. Freeman
The Eric Canal is scheduled to open tomorrow and the Welcome Center was a busy place today as flags were hung, bleachers were set up, wires were laid for speakers and the yard was mowed. It was another extremely hot day, so we took our new blow up kayak out for a spin. It felt wonderful being on the water. We paddled over to Peebles Island...Stan fished and I did a little hiking and a lot of relaxing.

Most of the boats that have been on the wall here in Waterford are leaving in the morning. Some up The Champlain Canal and many more up the Erie Canal. Many are French Canadians from Quebec and tonight they had a party on a large power cat. The crew of Mrs. P and us were the only Americans invited and the only ones whose first language was English...all spoke French, but some spoke English. We had a wonderful time...these people have made our stay this week very entertaining. It's going to be quiet around here after they leave.

Fun on Peebles Island
It was just a little warm here today...much warmer than at home in Texas
Fun on Pila Della this evening with new friends
The storm that put an end to our party and the hot weather
Our musical entertainment this evening....so much fun.
