"The sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in
its net of wonder forever."—Jacques Cousteau

Sept. 8 – Lower Goose Island, ME

The Goslings

You can't be afraid of change. You may feel very secure in the pond that you are in, but if you never venture out of it, you will never know that there is such a thing as an ocean, a sea. Holding onto something that is good for you now, may be the very reason why you don't have something better. -C. JoyBell C
We're slowly making our way down the coast. We went back to Robinhood Marine Center on Wednesday to catch up on laundry, get fuel and water and make a trip to the store...we're fixed up and ready for the next leg of our trip. We want to visit Freeport to check out the LL Bean flagship store and then Portland before we start our trip back to New England and the Chesapeake.

We woke to a foggy morning, but it didn't slow us down, our stop today was The Gosling Islands in the Casco Bay area. Each of these little islands is a little park. We picked up an empty mooring and spent the afternoon beachcombing and hiking. Each island had a small sand beach and the water is surprisingly warm here (for Maine), so the area is popular with weekenders, but today it was very quiet. Although four other boats joined us in the harbor by sunset. Tomorrow we trade in exploring nature for exploring the local economy.
