Oct. 9 – Sneads Ferry, NC

New River Marina

Today marks the halfway point of our boat/car trek south. It was another cold, cloudy, dreary day. I spent a few hours this morning hanging out at The Bean…definitely the place to be in Oriental. I think most of the town comes through here at one time or another in the morning. Like most local coffee joints in a small town it’s the place where people come to discuss the latest news and solve world affairs. Maybe our country should be run from a little coffee house. I really enjoyed our visit in Oriental.

Stan left in a light misty fog…nothing too bad. The only thing that improved during the day was the disappearance of the fog. Otherwise it stayed gray and cold all day. Hopefully the weather will improve tomorrow. My day was slow, not much to do in Sneads Ferry. I hung out at the library until Stan arrived. We spent the evening on the boat having a nice dinner and watching TV…really missing our regular burger night in Baltimore.
