Aug. 6 - Snow Island, ME

Snow Island - Anchorage

Our destination today was Snow Island, which is at the head of Quahog Bay. It’s an idyllic anchorage that is well protected, tranquil and absolutely beautiful. Once we settled in we took the dinghy down and went exploring. There are a few shallow coves and inlets close to the anchorage with beautiful water that would be great to swim in...if the weather was a little warmer. We had a beautiful day, with temperatures in the lower 70s. Definitely not a swimming day for us, but it was a wonderful day to enjoy being on the boat in this beautiful spot.

We met a published author today, Michael Gullikson. He is anchored in the cove not far from us. He comes out here on his sailboat to write. Stan was working on something on the deck this afternoon, so he stopped by in his dinghy. We enjoyed visiting with him and invited him to dinner. He enjoyed hearing about our travels and we enjoyed talking to him about his writing. As much trouble as I have writing this blog every day, I was impressed to visit with someone who can write so easily. He said the words just flow out and sometimes he doesn't even realize the day has passed so quickly. You can check out his book at Amazon.
