Aug. 5 - Boothbay Harbor, ME

Brown's Wharf Marina Mooring

It was another beautiful day, a perfect sailboat day, a little windy for a trawler, but we enjoyed our cruise to Boothbay Harbor. We got a later start than normal since we had to dock in Rockland for diesel and water. It takes a little longer to fill up the boat than it does a car!

After taking a mooring in Boothbay Harbor, we noticed the sailboat next to us was flying a Texas flag. On our way to the dinghy dock we stopped for a visit. They're not just from Texas but also from Port Aransas, which is almost home to us. The more we spoke with them we found out the husband spent part of his childhood in Seadrift, which is a small town in our county. Cruising is truly a small world.

Boothbay Harbor is a quintessential New England maritime village, with a rocky coast along the harbor, lots of fishing boats and lots of restaurants that serve lobster. The footbridge that crosses harbor is a good place to observe the extreme tides that Maine is known for. Boothbay Harbor also boasts the largest fleet of excursion boats in Maine for viewing lighthouses, islands, seals, whales, puffins and charter boats for deep-sea fishing.

After doing a little exploring we spent the evening on the deck enjoying the view and the wonderful weather.

A few of the sailing cruises out of Boothbay Harbor. I'm sure they all enjoyed this wonderful sailing day.

The deck at Brown's Wharf Marina and Inn...a great place to watch the world go by.
This small building built on the foot bridge was for sale. Cute place for a summer home...no yard to mow.
