Day 71 - Moving North
Long Key Bight - Anchorage

We had a long day on the water today...traveled 75 miles from Key West to Long Key. We traveled on the Atlantic side, officially called The Straits of Florida. The winds picked up in the afternoon so we stayed as close to land as we could, giving us a little smoother ride. The trip was uneventful, the only entertainment we had was watching a cruise ship dock as we left Key West. Very little boat traffic and no wildlife. I really thought we would see more birds and dolphins in Florida...we seem to have a lot more along our coast in Texas.

By the time we anchored in Long Key Bight (A bight is a wide bay formed by a bend or curve in a shoreline.) the wind was blowing between 25-30 mph. The wind kept us cool, but it also kept us inside. The anchor held tight and we had a quiet night. No TV reception in this area so we watched a movie before bed.

Pirate...Bandito?? No...just Stan trying to keep the sun off his face as we were traveling east this morning!
