Oct. 14 - The End of the Season

"How beautifully leaves grow old. How full of light and color are their last days." –John Burroughs

It's that time of year again...fall has arrived in upstate New York. The temperatures are dropping and the days are getting shorter, so it's time to begin our migration south. September seemed a little cooler and wetter this year, and the trees have really gotten pretty. The hills around Ithaca and our marina are gorgeous. I like the fiery red trees the best...they are truly breathtaking.

These pictures were taken at the marina.
Most of the boats have left the marina.
Our boats have to be cleaned and put away for the winter.
The Pearl leaving the marina for the season. As usual Stan moves the boat to our winter storage and I meet him there with the car.
One last look at our beautiful summer home.
Fall is beautiful here.
This is the sixth winter that The Pearl will wait for our return at Beacon Bay Marina. First we winterize all the systems, then she is hauled, bottom cleaned and blocked up in the work yard. Soon they will cover her with her winter coat.
After all our work to close the boat and load our car we deserved a nice lunch on our way to Kyle's home. We like The Elf in the Oak, the food is good and it has a wonderful view of Seneca Lake.
Watkins Glen State Park
This is what it looked like from the Finger Lakes to our son's home in Bloomsburg, PA. We loved the drive.
