Feb. 6 - Rincón, PR

“Nothing soothes the soul like a walk on the beach.” –Unknown

We spent today exploring Rincón. We walked to town this morning to check out the little shops, fruit stands and restaurants. We walked along the street going to town and then along the beach on the way home.
After walking about three miles this morning we drove out to El Ancle for lunch. The little beach restaurant sits right on Marina Beach. The beach is a protected little cove and there were people everywhere. Parasailing, snorkeling and boat tours leave from the boat ramp.
The view from our table at lunch.
Punta Higuero Light (Rincon Lighthouse) The original building was built in 1892 by the Spanish government and rebuilt in 1922 by the United States Coast Guard. It's situated on a bluff surrounded by a lovely park with great views of surfers, Desecheo Island, the sunset and even whales
Every Thursday night the town of Rincón hosts an Art Walk in the plaza. We chose to walk to town so we wouldn't get stuck in traffic. On the way we stopped by the city beach to watch the sunset. When we arrived at the plaza it was full of local artists selling their wares, a few food booths and music. Just the kind of place we enjoy hanging out at.

We stopped at the Gastropark for dinner on the way home...lots of food trucks in one place.
Part of the entertainment this evening.
