Town Mooring

“You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one. I hope someday you'll join us. And the world will live as one.” ―John Lennon
We caught up with our friends on Exuberant today. We met them in Frenchboro on Long Island. They told us it's one of their favorite stops in Maine and after spending the afternoon hiking some of its trails, eating lobster and watching a beautiful sunset, I think we can say it's one of ours too.

Frenchboro at high tide
Only 65 people live full time on the island, making their living by lobstering. A large portion of the island is a preserve offering a network of more than 10 miles of hiking trails that provide access to an array of spectacular shoreline vistas. We had a beautiful day to hike, but you can tell the area gets plenty of moisture from rain and fog because the interior forest and wetlands were covered in an array of mosses and mushrooms.
Boulder Beach...a very impressive place. These are not stones...they are huge rocks
Can you see the fog?
The north side of the island there are cliffs dropping down to the sea...beautiful views.
We sat here enjoying the view and visiting
I've been collecting lobster buoys...today was a successful day.
More breathtaking views from our hike
We arrived at high tide and took a mooring in the outer harbor. After spending several hours hiking and exploring some of the beautiful trails we returned to the harbor. It looked quite different with the dropping tide…12' tide is an amazing thing to see. The inner harbor had gone from a small bay to a river with an island appearing in the middle of it. Every six hours the coastline of Maine changes dramatically.

The tide beginning to go down.
Lunt Dockside Deli were we had a great lobster dinner
Lobster, corn and slaw for $12.50
Enjoying our time with Burt and Prue

    1. It is beautiful but very isolated...I don't think I'd like to be out there in the winter.
