Aug. 11 – Bailey Island, ME

Water Cove

“Man cannot discover new oceans unless he has the courage to lose sight of the shore.”  —Andre Gide

We made it...we're finally back in Maine. We've seen a lot of the east coast this year. We were in the Keys in January and now we'll spend a month or so exploring Maine. If you'd like to see where we've been, check out our Travel Log or map.

Hopefully our days will begin a little later than they have this past week. We left Gloucester this morning at 6:00. We had a lot of miles to go today and wanted to be there before dinner. It was a perfect day in the Atlantic...sunshine, light winds and smooth seas. The only thing that could have made it better would have been a whale sighting...maybe another day.

We picked up a friend's mooring in Water Cove off of Bailey Island  just in time to get things settled, change clothes and meet them for dinner. We enjoyed a wonderful evening catching up with Claudette and Bruce, eating lobster and taking in the beautiful view of the cove. We may spend a few days here exploring the island, doing a little boat maintenance, relaxing and waiting for weather to pass.
