Aug. 6 – Hawkesbury, ON

Travel Day
Hawkesbury Confederation Park

First thing this morning we moved the boat to the blue line for the Ottawa Stair Locks. By the time the locks opened there were eight boats ready to lock down. We were lucky they took the boats locking down first. It took about 1 ½ hours to do the eight locks. We are now done with the Rideau Canal…moving towards Montreal now. We really enjoyed the Rideau, it was amazingly beautiful and the people we met were so nice.

We traveled down the Ottawa River today. The scenery was pretty, rolling hills and lots of farmland. It is much greener here…I guess they are getting more rain than the Ottawa area. We are just relaxing this evening…no exploring. We will move on to Saint Anne de Bellevue tomorrow, we may stay there an extra day and then on to Montreal.
