April 13 – Great Bridge, VA

Sunshine and Warmer Weather
Atlantic Yacht Basin

Today was a beautiful day…finally warm enough to put on a pair of shorts, at least for a few hours. I was inspired by the warmer weather, so I got rid of a few layers of dust in the cabin. Dust is just something you learn to live with on a boat. I know you landlubbers are probably thinking “dust” what do you mean…but we even get a lot of dust when we are actually cruising. We get tons of it when we are sitting at a dock. By mid morning we looked great and smelled lemony fresh. My next activity of the day was visiting Bergey’s Breadbasket, a local bakery, creamery, and deli. Pam was looking for some fresh bread, so we took a road trip. This place was a neat little find, delicious bread, cinnamon rolls, biscuits and sandwiches. The town of Great Bridge is a cute little town once you get away from the main drag…beautiful countryside, nice homes, and picturesque farms. Stan washed the boat, cleaned the dock box and then placed it back on the boat. His project list is getting shorter. Warmer weather and a shorter project list means we are closer to casting off the lines and heading north.

There were a lot of boats on the water today…moving north. It’s a lot of fun watching them come by. We enjoyed the warmer evening sitting on Pam and Donny’s back deck...finally warm enough to have happy hour outside. Good company and a great view…you just can’t beat that!

Our appetizers this evening were "Stuffies" (Baked Stuffed Clams) Donny did a great job on them.
