Sept. 15 - Travel Day

Our flights were on time and we had no problems. We usually have more trouble getting home. We flew from Houston to Chicago and then into Providence. We actually got in a little early. We rented a car and drove the twenty miles or so to Newport. The area is very pretty…lots of trees. There are hundreds of boats (yachts) in the harbor, and the town is very quaint. Most of the buildings are hundreds of years old.  There is a lot of history in Newport, and it is a favorite summer resort for New Englanders.

After settling into our new home for the week we walked around the waterfront and had dinner at a place called The Landing….clam chowder, crab cakes, fish, shrimp and scallops...with a view.
