"The sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in
its net of wonder forever."—Jacques Cousteau

Sept. 4 – Islesboro, ME

Warren Island – Anchorage

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover." —Mark Twain
We spent one last morning enjoying our view of Camden...we will truly miss waking up to this amazing little town. This morning we watched Grace Bailey and Mercantile return to the harbor and we enjoyed the RC sailboat races, which was a part of the festival activities. I guess the rest of the Windjammer Festival will have to conclude without us.

And they're off!
The boats as they were rounding the marker next to our boat.
By 11:00 we told our mooring mates goodbye and we moved to the marina to take on water. Everyone we've met in Camden has been so nice. It's a hard place to leave. We’re still watching the remnants of Hurricane Hermine, so we aren't in a hurry to move south. Today we decided to cruise up Penobscot Bay a little to Warren Island in Islesboro. The day was beautiful and we enjoyed spending the afternoon exploring in our dinghy and doing a little beach combing.

We had two very nice sailboats as neighbors this week and we enjoyed getting to know everyone.
Good-bye Camden
The mornings and evenings are beginning to get cool; you could say even cold...we can tell it's about time to leave Maine. It’s time to begin thinking about leaving The Pearl for the winter, but until then we still have some wonderful places to explore.

Grindle Point Lighthouse built in 1874 in Islesboro, Maine. It marks the west entrance to Gilkey Harbor at the westernmost point of the eponymous island.
Our anchorage tonight near Warren Island

  1. Looks like such a great summer adventure you guys have had. Wish summer could last longer. That chowder cook off would have been a hit with and Camden looks awesome. We'd love to visit there someday. As you start to move south, hope you don't get much from Hermine or the new tropical storm. Hope you have calm winds and seas.

    1. Y'all would definitely love Camden. We really hated to leave. We are in a safe harbor off the Sheepscot River where we were about 3 weeks ago. Good free internet, TV reception and great food at the Trevett Country Store. We'll spend a few days relaxing as the storm figures out what it's going to do. Looks like you've had a wonderful summer too...and you know people everywhere! I've enjoyed following along.
