Sept. 16 – Texas Pearl

Rockport Harbor

This week marks the one year anniversary of our purchasing Texas Pearl and in the last year we’ve transformed her into our home. We had a long list of improvements and projects we wanted to make on her and in the last four months we’ve completed almost all the items on our to do list. The latest improvements were the addition of our sofa and the wine rack that fills in the space left when we replaced the 34 year old refrigerator. Click here to see other posts on improvements we've made since last September.

Getting furniture on a boat can be a little challenging...doors are narrow and furniture tends to be wide. A lot of boats are built around the furniture and appliances. In order to get a sofa onboard we had to be able to get it in a 20" opening. We found a company out of North Carolina that specializes in getting furniture through small openings. Simplicity Sofas comes in pieces and can be assembled easily once onboard. They have a large array of choices...color, style and design features. We are very pleased with what we chose.

This is the refrigerator that was onboard when we bought the boat...very large and very nasty.

The new frig takes up less space in the galley. Giving me more room to cook and the wine rack gives us more storage. We really like the way it looks.

  2. And your Google Maps thing is really cool. You've been to each place marked, right? Would you mind telling me how you do that Google My Maps?

    1. Thanks I enjoy having the map. I have a set of instructions I've written up. It's a google map some of the pins would look different on yours because I started this map five years ago and things have changed. My instructions would help you get the map imbedded in your blog. I'll send it to your email that is on your google account. Just let me know if you have any questions.
