April 6 – Dog Island, FL

Day 31 – Getting Ready for the Crossing
Shipping Cove – Anchorage

This morning we filled up with diesel and water, and pumped out the holding tank…this is the glamorous side of cruising! After checking and rechecking every site we have for weather and visiting with some of the locals who know this area…we’ve decided to make our move tomorrow. To put us in a better position to make the crossing to Steinhatchee, we moved over to the barrier island known as Dog Island. A short 5.5 miles today. We'll leave early tomorrow morning because we have about 80 miles to cross in the gulf and the winds are usually lighter in the mornings. It will be a long day…with little to see.
