Mar. 2 – Final Preparations

Stan spent yesterday afternoon changing the oil, oil filter and fuel filters. As you can see from the picture there isn’t a lot of room in our engine room, so it isn’t a job he loves to do. He said it felt good to have it done.

This morning we took the boat over to the Harbor Refuge and filled the fuel tanks. I’m sure it'll be the cheapest diesel we will find for quite awhile.  They usually just service the shrimp boats that dock there…but Stan has made friends with the guy who runs the place and we have gotten diesel there several times. The only bad thing was we had to be there at 7:00 AM! It was a beautiful crisp morning and it felt nice to be on the water.

I have been taking loads of clothes and last minute items to the boat each time I go. I plan on shopping tomorrow afternoon for the last grocery items. I’m beginning to think it might be easier just staying on the boat….but I hate to leave my house just yet.
